What Do You See?

Mark 8:22-26 (MSG). They arrived at Bethsaida. Some people brought a sightless man and begged Jesus to give him a healing touch. Taking him by the hand, he led him out of the village. He put spit in the man’s eyes, laid hands on him, and asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up. “I see men. They look like walking trees.” So Jesus laid hands on his eyes again. The man looked hard and realized that he had recovered perfect sight, saw everything in bright, twenty-twenty focus…” 

Perception is a powerful thing. Our perception towards life, into a situation or into relationships, can ultimately either open the door to a tidal wave of joy, hope and expectation or lead to defeat, frustration, suspicion and discouragement. In my own life, I find that what I see and how I see things is ultimately impacted by my time with God, my daily touch from Him.

You see, this man in Mark 8 was blind. He was unable to see. He had no vision. He had no ability to perceive with his natural eyes what was in front of him until he received a touch from Jesus. His first touch left him with a distorted perception. He saw men but they looked like "walking trees." So what did he do? He stayed in position to receive another touch from God. The second touch from Him brought pure vision, sight and a right perception. 

Today, my encouragement to someone is to check your perception. Is it clear or blurry? Maybe you need a second touch from Jesus today. That second touch is found through our time alone with Him, in His word, in prayer and in church.  Left to ourselves we will begin to have a distorted perception or eventually become blind. But when in the presence of God, things that once were foggy are made clear. Are you in position today to receive His touch?

Don’t let the enemy rob your joy, your hope or your expectation today by causing “men to look like walking trees.” Allow the touch of God to bring clarity and purity back into your life! God has clarity for you today. God has a right perception for you to hold on to today. God is ready to make the crooked things straight in your life today!
